Biomechanics

What is Biomechanics?

Biomechanics is the field of podiatry which looks at the posture and movement of the foot to the relation of the body, during standing still and during gait (walking). Many foot problems can be corrected by simple exercises, or by the use of custom insoles or orthotics to help support the foot and reduce pain.

What Does 4D Scanning and Gait Analysis Look Like?

Don't want to use a Running Machine?

That's okay, we have it covered. Your Gait / Walking pattern can be fully analysed using the powerful combination of Rivelo's Baiobit movement Sensor (Middlesbrough Only), Materialise's SAM 4D scanning software and the Footscan System without having to even step foot on a running machine. This superior technology available here at Footman Podiatry and Gait Analysis Clinics, can open up a whole new ability to monitor and help the stability for people with Motor neurone disease, Parkinsons, Dementia and other cognitive impaired health conditions.

What Happens in an Assessment?

A biomechanical examination typically includes checking for a leg length difference. Assessing the range of movement within the foot, ankle and lower limb. Looking at the foot posture whilst static. Video analysis of you walking / running, (treadmill available at Middlesbrough clinic only). Using our Gait Analysis system from Baiobit which is the latest state of the art technology for superior analysis. Plus 4D scanning of your feet with our advanced biomechnaics analysis using specialised Footscan software from Gait and Motion Technology.

A common problem for foot issues is hypermobility, this is the foot moving more than it should at certain joints. Custom orthotics or insoles can be manufactured to help correct this problem. The Footscan system feeds data into the manufacturing process to produce a fully customised orthotic specifically for you the patient.
